John Robert Powers
An entertainer for more than 25 years, Kim Flowers decided to steer her career in the direction of helping others achieve their own dreams of performing. Flowers wanted to open her own talent school, and in 1996, she became the first Af¬rican American woman to run a John Robert Powers franchise. Flowers founded the Las Vegas branch of John Robert Powers seven years ago and now owns and operates the Las Vegas and Reno, Nev. offices, in addition to the Pasadena, Calif. and Jacksonville, Fla. branches. Additionally, Flowers leads her own talent management and photography companies.
Flowers and her dedicated staff pride themselves on changing lives, creating success stories and making dreams come true with John Robert Powers. As a personal manager, Flowers is currently guiding the careers of many talented children, teens and adults. In June 2004, Flowers received the Small Business Administration Award for Small Business Person of the Year, nominated by the Urban Chamber of Commerce in Las Vegas. In 1997, she was nominated for Businesswoman of the Year by the Black Chamber of Commerce, and is currently on the Board of Advisors with the Nevada Chamber of Commerce. In addition, John Robert Powers corporate headquarters recently awarded Flowers’ Las Vegas branch the “Best Success Stories” award for having more talent success stories than any other branch in the United States.
In her own career, Flowers has graced stages all over the world as a fashion model, actress, singer, dancer and spokes model for the past 35 years. Flowers has toured the U.S., Europe, South America and the Middle East with such prestigious name brands as Bob Mackie, Peppe Jeans, Benetton, Macy's, Ralph Lauren and Ellen Tracy. She has performed at Bally's, Four Queens and The Dunes hotels as well as appeared on several television shows and music videos like “Kool School” and “Living in America.” Flowers’ many film, industrial video and trade show credits include Rocky, Wild Orchid and Honeymoon in Las Vegas, plus national advertisers like Ford, Chevy and Shell Oil.
Flowers is currently the personal manager for talent including A.J. Trauth from The Disney Channel’s “Even Stevens” and Jessica Miller, the seventh highest ranked supermodel in the world, who can be seen in ads for Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, and Fendi. Her clients can also be seen in print ads for name brands including Guess, Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, Sketchers, Levi’s and Abercrombie & Fitch; national chain stores Gap, K Mart, Macy's, Mervyns and Target; magazine layouts for Teen, Cosmo Girl, Seventeen and the Russian edition of Vogue; and television commercials for Sprint, Capri Sun, Heinz, Wonder Bread, Nestle Crunch, Cricket Cell Phone, Charmin, AT&T, Burger King, Subway, Texaco, Lays, Nintendo 64, Juicy Juice, M&M's, Bounty, Pizza Hut, Showtime, Barbie Mattel and All detergent.
Flowers’ students have also landed roles on hit television shows including “Days of Our Lives,” “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman,” “The Practice,” “Gideon's Crossing,” “Unsolved Mysteries,” “The Amanda Bynes Show,” “Kids Say The Darndest Things,” “Simply Raven,” “All That” and “Rip Girls;” and in the theatrical films Mysterious Museum, Speedway Junky, David Poshine, The Little Richard Story, Pay it Forward, America's Sweethearts, The Mexican, Oceans Eleven and upcoming in 2003, Stewey.
Flowers resides in the Las Vegas area. In addition to acting as the personal manager of more than fifteen entertainers and models, she also manages the budding career of her own talented daughter, twelve-year old Chanel.
