If you’ve lived in Nevada for any length of time, you are well aware of our Lt. Governor, Lorraine Hunt. Respected for her hard work, dedication and many contributions to the state, she is regarded as one of the most dynamic ladies in political service today.
Serving as the Chair of Economic Development since 1998, she has actively been spreading the word that this is where businesses should be. Whether you are an entrepreneur, first-time business owner, a Fortune 100 or Fortune 500 Company, Nevada is the number one place in the world for opportunity and success.
With her first-hand experiences of owning and operating many successful companies, it is no surprise that Lt. Governor Hunt is a passionate advocate for Nevada businesses. She promised higher wages and high-paying jobs through economic diversification, and she delivered.
As Lt. Governor and Chair of the Nevada Commission on Tourism, she promised to promote tourism on a global scale and she delivered. By pioneering one of only 14 licenses available to market to the Peoples Republic of China, she really delivered! Nevada is the only state to possess such a license—not the United States, just the state of NEVADA. And, with approximately 1.3 billion customers in China, this one effort is predicted to be Nevada’s own gold strike for the future.
If the Governorship is based on a list of accomplishments, Lt Governor Hunt certainly stands out. In the public sector, she has served as Nevada’s Lt. Gov. for 7 years and is a member of the Governor’s Cabinet. She is President of the Nevada State Senate, Chair of the Nevada Commission on Tourism, Chair of the Nevada Commission on Economic Development, Vice-Chair of the Nevada Department of Transportation, and a Member of the Executive Branch Audit Committee. She is also the current Chair of the Truckee River Whitewater Steering Committee and Executive Committee Member for the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association.
As for past public service, she was Elected Clark Country Commissioner, and eventually vice-chaired the commission for two consecutive years, she served as Vice Chair of the Nevada Motion Picture Commission, Chair of the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors’ Authority, Board of Trustees, Member of the McCarran International Airport Board of Trustees, and Vice Chair of the University Medical Center Board of Trustees.
In the private sector, she is part of the Founding Group of Continental National Bank, Past Director of First Security Bank, Wells Fargo Nevada Community Board Member, Past Director of Las Vegas Events, Past Executive Committee Member of the Nevada Development Authority, Past Chairmen-Elect of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Past Director of the Nevada Hotel-Motel Association, Past President of the Nevada Restaurant Association, and Past President and Trustee of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.
Lt. Governor Hunt is an extremely accomplished woman. There is no doubt that she not only stepped up to the plate, but delivered for the people of Nevada, and continues to do so. Tonight she solicits your support so she can continue to use her vast experience, energy, and creativity to do even more for the people of Nevada as our next Governor.
It is an honor and a privilege to have, as our guest speaker, Lt. Governor Lorraine Hunt. Let’s give her a warm welcome!
